Shing-Fu Hsueh and Michael Wildes
to Immigration Panel – Information Request

Dear Mayor:                                        

Governor Corzine has appointed Shing-Fu Hsueh, Mayor of West Windsor, and Michael Wildes, Mayor of Englewood and Chair of the League Task Force on Immigration, to the Governor's Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel on Immigrant Policy. Governor Corzine signed an executive order creating this panel on Monday, August 6, 2007, at the Flag Plaza in Liberty State Park (see the League’s website for background).

The Governor's Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel will be charged with developing recommendations for a comprehensive and strategic statewide approach to successfully integrating the growing immigrant population in the State. The Advisory Panel is expected to look at a number of areas such as education, citizenship status, employment/workforce training, civil rights, fair housing, healthcare, language proficiency and other key areas as the Advisory Panel may identify. The Advisory Panel will report their findings and recommendations to the Governor by the eighteenth month after their organizational meeting.

The League is delighted to have such excellent representation on the Advisory Panel. If you have any specific municipal immigration concerns that you would like to see addressed by the Advisory Panel, please forward them to me at bdressel@njslom.com and I will see that our newly appointed municipal representatives on the Governor’s Panel receive them.
